Common problems and easy repairs on a 1990 5

The 1990 Renault 5 TL Campus is relatively easy to maintain. Changing the engine air filter with reliability is no problem, as you only have to disengage a few fasteners to access it. The engine coolant reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay, allowing you to check the fluid level on a regular basis. Changing the headlight bulb is easy, as you only have to reach behind the housing for access to it.

Some things are problematic on the 1990 Renault 5 TL Campus. The brake fluid reservoir is located deep in the engine bay, making it tough to regularly check the fluid level. You will have to completely remove the rear housing for access to the tail light bulbs. To access the spare tire you will have to lower it from under the vehicle first, which can be difficult if the lowering mechanism grows rusted to the vehicle.
