Common problems and easy repairs on a 1999 Impreza
The 1999 Subaru Impreza Outback is a relatively easy vehicle to maintain, but is more recommended to those capable of vehicle maintenance. The components of the spare tire are easily accessible in the rear of the vehicle. This keeps the tire and jack kit ready to go in case of emergency. Changing the headlight with reliability is no problem, as you only have to reach behind the housing for access to the assembly. Changing the engine air filter is easy to do, as you only have to disengage a few fasteners for access to the filter.
Some things are problematic on the 1999 Subaru Impreza Outback. You will have to peel down a panel from under the vehicle in order to access the petcock for a coolant drain. This will require you to contend with gravity as you complete. Changing the center brake light can be tough, as you will need to use a few tools you may not have readily available for a repair.
