Common problems and easy repairs on a 2003 Ion-2

The 2003 Saturn Ion-2 is a relatively difficult vehicle to maintain, but shouldn’t be too hard for those experienced in vehicle maintenance. You will have to remove torx bolts in order to remove the tail light housing. The tools necessary may not be readily available for a repair. Changing the cabin air filter with reliability can be a problem, as you will have to lower the glove box for access. Other models will include an access panel in the rear of the glove box instead. You will have to remove the headlight housing for access to the headlight bulb. This will require you to remove fasteners that can grow rusted to the vehicle over time.

Some things are easier on the 2003 Saturn Ion-2. Changing the engine air filter is easy to do, as you only have to disengage a few fasteners for access to the filter. These fasteners are easy to disengage. The components of the spare tire are easily accessible in the rear of the vehicle. This keeps the tire and jack kit ready to go. Changing the center brake light bulbs will be easy to do, as you only have to remove one easy to remove cover for access to the bulb.
