Common problems and easy repairs on a 2014 Passat

The 2014 Volkswagen Passat SEL Premium is not too difficult to maintain, but it will require tools and is only recommended to those experienced in vehicle maintenance. Changing the engine air filter can be a problem, as you will need to loosen torx bolts for access. The tools necessary may not be readily available for a repair. You will have to remove a large panel from under the vehicle in order to access the drainp lug for an oil change. This will require you to contend with gravity as you use tools to complete. The reverse light is more complicated to reliably change than usual.

Some things are easier on the 2014 Volkswagen Passat SEL Premium. Changing the headlight is no problem, as you only have to reach behind the housing for access to the bulb. The engine coolant reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay. This will allow you to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis. The components of the spare tire are easily accessible in the rear of the vehicle. This keeps the tire and jack kit ready to go in case of emergency.
