Consumer Review Video - 2016 GMC Terrain SLT 3.6L V6 FlexFuel

Common problems and easy repairs on a 2016 Terrain

The 2016 GMC Terrain SLT is a difficult SUV to maintain, and is only recommended to someone experienced in vehicle maintenance. You will have to reach through the wheel well lining in order to access the headlight. This lining can grow tight to the vehicle and be a problem to peel back. To replace some of the tail lights, you will have to use a few tools in order to completely remove the housing for access to the bulbs. This would have been much easier if there were designated access panels in the rear of the vehicle. You will need to use a few tools in order to reliably access the engine air filter. Other models will only force you to disengage a few fasteners for access to the filter.

Some things are easier to repair on the 2016 GMC Terrain SLT. The components of the spare tire are easily accessible in the rear of the vehicle. This keeps the tire and jack kit ready to go in case of emergency. Checking the oil level is easy to do, as the oil dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay. The engine coolant fluid reservoir is located in a visible spot in the engine bay. This will allow you to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis.
